Biography

Maia has a background in acute, medical and primary care nursing, with a special interest in diabetes. Her Masters was focused around nurse perceptions of providing diabetes education to patients with type 2 diabetes in the primary care setting. She is currently working on her PhD, with a focus on diabetes nursing in the inpatient setting. She has been a nursing lecturer at MIT since 2018 and is currently research lead for the School of Nursing. Maia has a passion for research and her research interests include nursing practice, diabetes and education.

Why I love MIT

I’m one of the lecturers in the school of nursing at MIT. At MIT we have a great clinical learning suite, with hands-on learning opportunities. We have a nurturing environment that supports learners to succeed to become successful nursing graduates.

Scholarly activities

  • Currently involved in School of Nursing HoloLens (Hololens Augmented Reality) research project
  • Currently conducting research for PhD.

Research interests

  • Nursing practice, diabetes and education.
