Fast-track your way to a logistics management job in the supply chain and shipping industry.
If you already have work experience or a base qualification in the industry, this advanced logistics management qualification is your stepping stone to better career options.
You will build on your existing skills and knowledge in logistics and commercial shipping and learn business analysis and management concepts such as sustainability, resilience, and risk planning, as well as related issues of law.
Apply your skills in industry case studies. When you graduate you will be ready for management roles in the areas of supply chain, logistics, freight transport, sustainability, and crises management.
There?may be some onsite block attendance required.
Entry requirements
For Graduate Diplomas entry is open to degree graduates.
However, subject to the regulations of the award, those who have been able to demonstrate equivalent practical, professional or educational experience of an appropriate kind may be granted admission.
Applicants must meet the following entry requirements:
- Successful completion of an appropriate NQF level 6 or 7 programme, e.g. a business related degree, or
- Former students who have gained a Level 7 Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain or a Level 7 Graduate Certificate in Shipping may be granted entry to the Graduate Diploma Programme. Former students who have gained a Level 6 Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain or a Level 6 Graduate Certificate in Shipping may also be granted entry to the Graduate Diploma programme, provided they are also able to demonstrate appropriate work experience, or
- Successful completion of New Zealand Diploma in Supply Chain Management; plus relevant work experience, or
- Successful completion of New Zealand Diploma in International Freight Logistics; plus relevant work experience*, or
- Evidence of at least 3 years relevant work experience at a senior operational level or equivalent (prospective students may be asked to complete a research essay to show academic ability).
And
- International students are required to meet the minimum English language requirements for this level programme as detailed on the NZQA website: https://www.nzqa.govt.nz/providers-partners/qa-system-for-teos/english-international-students/
Students must be able to show a positive attitude to learning and achievement, a high standard of personal discipline and effective communication skills. These will be normally assessed by way of an interview. Alternative means to assess these criteria will be adopted where an interview is not practicable, as in the case of international students.

Selection Criteria
- Prospective students who meet the entry criteria and interview requirements will be accepted on a first come first served basis until the course is full. Preference may be given to graduates from the Manukau Institute of Technology Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain Management or the Manukau Institute of Technology Graduate Certificate in Shipping.
Special & discretionary admission
Any ākonga who is 20 years of age or older and has not reached the general admission requirements for their intended programme is eligible for Special Admission. Te Pūkenga works with the ākonga to ensure they are prepared for their intended programme. Any ākonga who is not yet 20 years of age and has not reached the general admission requirements for their intended programme may be eligible for Discretionary Admission. In assessing whether to grant Discretionary Admission, the delegated authority focuses on the applicant’s level of preparedness for their intended programme.
