Pacific language weeks

Here at MIT a typical Pacific language week would include cultural workshops on Pasifika languages, cultural practices, arts and crafts, and cultural performances from our very own MIT Pasifika student associations and our local schools and communities. Vibrant displays of cultural food preparation stalls, and quiz nights are just some of the highlights from previous Pacific language weeks.

Staff and students are encouraged to get involved and don Pasifika cultural attire during these special weeks.

We welcome community participation and involvement, so if your community group or organisation would like to collaborate on any of the Pacific language weeks, don't hesitate to get in touch with the Pasifika Development Office (PDO).

Pasifika Community Komiti

Pasifika Community Komiti (PCK) formerly known as the Pasifika Community Advisory Council provide advice to Council on matters that impact Pasifika at MIT. At the heart of this are matters on Pasifika student success and engagement, implementing the goals set out in the MIT Pasifika Strategic Plan 2018-2023, and building strong relationships between MIT and the Pasifika communities in Auckland.

PCK is comprised of appointed members and leaders from the Pasifika community, church and education sectors, as well as ex-officio MIT staff members.
