Who should attend

The course is designed specifically for individuals who wish to gain more knowledge in their current maritime security field, or wish to move into maritime security as a Company Security Officer (CSO).

Company Security Officer, Ship Security Officer & Port Facility Officer are taught in conjunction.

  • Students who attend the two day Company Security Officers (CSO) Course are eligible to obtain Ship Security Officer (SSO) as an additional certificate.
  • Students who attend the additional one day Port Facility Security Officers (PFSO) Course are eligible to obtain additional certificates covered within the PFSO course i.e. Ship Security Officer (SSO) and Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO).

Course highlights

Participants will be able to complete all duties required of a Company Security Officer operating ISPS designated vessels, including the development, implementation, revision and maintenance of the ship security plan and liaison with the ship security officers.

This course meets the requirements of SOLAS Chapter XI – 2, the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) code.

Entry requirements

The Ship Security Officer & Port Facility Officer certificates are taught in conjunction.

  • Students who attend the two-day Ship Security Officers (SSO) course are eligible to obtain Company Security Officer (CSO) as an additional certificate.
  • Students who attend the three-day Port Facility Security Officers (PFSO) course are eligible to obtain additional certificates covered within the PFSO course i.e. Ship Security Officer (SSO) and/or Company Security Officer (CSO).

Please notify reception at the time of your enrolment as there is an additional charge of $25 per certificate.

  • Roles of Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) and Ship Security Officer (SSO)
  • Security requirements and security administration including drills, exercises and protection
  • Crowd management techniques
