Biography:

After 15 years as a veterinary nurse, Dayna transitioned into the counselling profession, completing a Bachelor of Applied Counselling at MIT. She now teaches across the Bachelor of Applied Counselling programme and works in the community as a counsellor based in Tāmaki Makaurau. Her clinical practice includes working with Māori whānau, youth, and individuals impacted by trauma, neurodiversity, domestic and intimate partner violence, and the justice system. She brings a culturally responsive, trauma-informed approach to her work.

Dayna is working to complete a Master of Indigenous Studies at Waipapa Taumata Rau (UoA). Her teaching and counselling are grounded in kaupapa Māori values and a commitment to equity, healing, and collective transformation.
