Three generations of nurses graduate from MIT

Daniel Mataafa, from rugby to nursing
"For me as an Islander, nursing is a natural thing. We most definitely need more Pacific males in nursing," – Daniel Mataafa, MIT Bachelor of Nursing graduate. For many young Pacific men, nursing isn't a career they consider. But after an injury side-lined his rugby aspirations, Daniel Mataafa is graduating with a Bachelor of Nursing from MIT. He now wants to encourage others men to give it a go.

After an eye injury forced him to leave a promising representative rugby career, John Cocker is making big strides in his ambition to coach. The Mount Wellington local is graduating with a Diploma in Applied Sport and Recreation from MIT on 27 May 2016.

The first six computing degrees to successfully achieve robust accreditation and endorsement by the IT industry were announced today, with MIT among the New Zealand institutions being recognised. MIT's Bachelor of Information and Communication Technologies degree is now accredited and industry-endorsed by the Institute of IT Professionals NZ (IITP).
