Entry requirements

Employees and volunteers may be required to undergo ongoing checks to ensure they are a fit and proper person to provide support in the health and wellbeing sectors.

Applicants for this qualification will need to provide evidence of the following: 

  • New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) in Health Assistance or Support Work strand; or
  • An equivalent qualification or experience in the health and wellbeing sectors.
International students

International students will generally be required to provide evidence of English language proficiency, for this programme an IELTS General or Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5 is required. Applicants of this programme will need to undergo police vetting and VCA checking.

This programme adheres to and is consistent with the Health and Disability Commissioner (Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers’ Rights) Regulations 1996, the Privacy Act 1993, the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, and any other legislative or contractual requirements to which the industry or role is subject.

Credit recognition/credit transfer/RPL regulations

Credit transfer will be available upon application to those who have successfully participated in a Level 3 programme by providing a relevant academic transcript.

Applicants may also be required to complete a challenge test.

Recognition of prior learning is available for the whole of the level 4 programme.

Applicants will need to demonstrate graduate and learning outcomes through a range of challenge tests, attestations and a professional conversation. Fees apply.

Provisional entry

Students who have attained the age of 20 years and do not hold the minimum entry requirements for a programme will be eligible to be enrolled as a student where their previous educational, work or life experience indicates they have a reasonable likelihood of success. Students who have not attained the age of 20 years and do not hold the required minimum entry requirements for a programme may also be eligible to enrol in exceptional circumstances. Such decisions will be made by the Director/Head of School.

Certificate of Proficiency (COP) may be cross credited to a programme however grades achieved through studying a COP are not transferable to a programme.
