What do I need to bring to orientation?

Please bring with you

The confirmation of your session registration from Eventbrite (Please bring a printed copy or save it on your smartphone so that the QR code can be scanned). This is needed to assist us with contact tracing if required.

Your student ID number and your user name. These are both found on the top of your Statement of Fees. This is sent to you as a PDF attachment with your enrolment email confirmation.

Your laptop/device that you will be using for study. Please bring this with you for the Tech Ready session. Depending on your programme, you may find that you need your own laptop that meets our BYOD guidelines. In many cases, you may find you already own or have access to a laptop that is suitable. Check the BYOD guidelines for MIT here

Information for students on MIT Covid-19 response

For information on what studying may look like for our students and staff at different COVID-19 alert levels, please visit our Student Support FAQ page.

At all alert levels, please follow the simple steps to keep everyone safe and well.

Contact tracing: Download and use NZ COVID Tracer to record your arrival at MIT as well as movements on campus by scanning QR codes displayed at main entrances and within our buildings. If you don’t have smartphone capability, please use the manual registers to keep track of your movements.

If you’re unwell: If you are unwell for any reason, do not come to MIT. Instead, call your GP or Healthline on 0800 611 116 to see if you should have a COVID-19 test. Follow the guidance given to you by health officials if you do have a COVID-19 test, they will tell you what to do next and if you need to self-isolate while you wait for your test result.

Masks: Face coverings are mandatory on public transport (buses, trains). Mask wearing can help keep you safe by helping stop droplets spreading when someone speaks, laughs, coughs or sneezes, especially in situations where it is harder to maintain distance eg. classes and Ask Me! centres.

Maintain good hygiene: Please wash your hands thoroughly, covering all coughs and sneezes with tissues or your elbow. Hand sanitiser will be available throughout our campuses.
