Investor relations in New Zealand: a communication gap?

Author: Andrew Godfrey

Abstract: Investor Relations (IR) may be defined as the process of corporate financial communication between companies and the financial community. The objective of this research project was to undertake an exploratory study of the nature and effectiveness of the formal and informal IR strategies used by New Zealand listed companies from the perspective of the financial community.

Larger New Zealand companies are providing generally satisfactory IR to the analyst and fund manager members of the financial community. The financial media and adviser groups were much more critical of the quality of the IR information and IR programmes.
